The Identes Missionaries of the Philippines held their first fundraising concert titled “Songs for Baby Jesus: A Christmas Concert for our World Missions” last Dec. 7, at the Miriam College Little Theatre, in Katipunan Quezon City, Philippines.
It was an evening full of grace, elegance, beauty and family spirit that made us feel truly children of our Heavenly Father and prepared us to welcome Christmas, with the generosity that makes Heaven closer.
Musical pieces were performed by the University of Caloocan Chorale (UCC), the Our Lady of Fatima Youth Choir, the Ateneo College Ministerial Group, and the Chamber Choir of the Parish of the Epiphany of the Lord (CCELP); while the Youth Ministry of San Antonio De Padua Parish and the Valderama Brothers treated those in attendance to some dance numbers. Brothers Kristen and Gabriel Dioko, Trinity and Lucio Uycquiengco also performed. To conclude the evening, Idente Youth, and Identes volunteers led some community songs.
One of the dancers, who participates in international dance competitions, manifested that “these initiatives are very different from competitions, cove rige competitiveness. Dancing as an offering to God makes you much happier.”
The director of one of the choirs said that “this is an opportunity for us to do what we love, which is singing, but as a gift to others and to God.” “Seeing the children perform out of simple generosity was an incredibly moving and joyful experience. There was more than just talent here; the boys shared their faith as well!” manifested one of the volunteers. This concert will bring that joy that young and old have experienced in each of our missions.
