“I’ve wanted to serve since I was a child,” shared one of the newly installed acolytes. Another expressed, “God the Father is always the center of my life.” These words, shared after the celebration, reflect the depth of intention behind a joyful event at Our Lady of Loretto parish in Hempstead, New York, on February 22, 2025. During a special installation Mass, twenty-one young people were welcomed into their new ministry as acolytes.
The celebration was marked by prayer, reverence, and a homily that invited the youth to reflect on their call to serve. At the end of the Mass, a blessing was extended to the new acolytes and their families—an encouragement to persevere in a life rooted in service to God.
Formation will continue weekly under the guidance of Idente missionaries and the support of the parish community. We pray that this journey may strengthen their faith and shape lives marked by devotion, generosity, and love for Christ.
